In September 2019, a paperback edition was printed, with 20 new tasks. In addition to writing additional tasks, Horne also removed the expiration date of 31 December 2019 where it made an appearance, and replaced tasks which had a collection date to become achieved on.

On 6 October 2019, Nathan G (@TheRealNafe on Twitter) was lauded because the first person to accomplish all 200 plus tasks from both editions.

Andrew Billen from the Occasions gave a 5 star overview of the show’s first episode, “Melon Buffet”, calling it “funny, revealing, and glorious” and evaluating it towards the Generation Game. In another overview of the very first episode, Filipa Jodelka from the Protector describes Taskmaster like a panel show by having an “edgy parlour-game twist”. Jodelka praises the “molten-hot banter” between contestants and Davies, and blogs about the arbitrary awarding of suggests QI and Numberwang. Also reviewing “Melon Buffet”, Ellen Johnson from the Independent recognized the show as enjoyable despite its “informal and economical-searching” style.

Wesley Mead of Living room of Geek authored an optimistic review in 2016, praising the show because the “crowning jewel” of original programming on Dave, and approving of the style of the duties and the plethora of approaches that contestants demonstrate. Mead believes the second series was a noticable difference around the first, but criticises the first three series only have one female contestant each.
