Thomas Harmer
Thomas Harmer (1715 – 27 November 1788) would be a minister in Suffolk, England and also the author of Observations on various Passages of Scripture.
Thomas Harmer was educated for that ministry in the Fund Academy in Tenter Alley, Moorfields, under Thomas Ridgley and John Eames. Thomas Harmer was the pastor of the independent church in Wattisfield, near Bury St. Edmunds, within the county of Suffolk, England. He was eminent in study regarding antiquities and Oriental literature.
Availing themself from the manuscripts of Mister John Chardin, famous for that accounts of his travels into Persia along with other Eastern countries and describing the customs and manners from the occupants of individuals nations, Rev. Harmer applied the data as one example of prophetical and evangelist writings.
The outcomes of his study made an appearance in ‘Observations on various Passages of Scripture’ (1774), which saw four editions throughout his existence.
He died on Thursday 27 November 1788. His funeral sermon was preached by John Mead Ray of Sudbury. His successor was Habakkuk Crabb.
This last publication, with other people, including Remarks around the Ancient and offer Condition from the Congregational Places of worship of Norfolk and Suffolk, is reprinted in Miscellaneous Works, (1823), edited, with memoir, by William Youngman. His manuscript accounts of the majority of the dissenting places of worship of Norfolk and Suffolk to 1774 happen to be utilized by John Browne (1823-1886), the non-conformist historian of individuals counties.
